This is a first grade language arts lesson plan that is interdisciplinary with science. This is a lesson on how we can help save the Earth. I introduced this lesson by first reading a story about Earth Day to the students. We then brainstormed as a class different ways we can help save the Earth. I then had them individually complete a graphic organizer before they began their writing piece of this lesson to help them gather their ideas. I then had them individually write in an explanation to the prompt "How can you help save the Earth". Once the students finished creating their writing piece they then colored an outline of the word and then placed their hand print over the Earth to "sign their contract" to help save the Earth. I chose this lesson to include into this domain because it shows my ability to plan and prepare interdisciplinary lesson that allow children to have fun while learning as well as help improve their writing skills. I would adapt this artifact for my future classroom by breaking this lesson into two days instead of one due to time. I would have the students complete the graphic organizer of ideas and color their Earth one day one and then have them complete their writing piece on the following day
